Common questions.
What is AGLC4?
The Australian Guide to Legal Citation, 4th Edition — the citation standard required by most Australian law schools and journals. This tool implements every rule in the guide.
Does it work on Mac and Windows?
Yes. The add-in works inside Microsoft Word on both Mac and Windows. It requires a Microsoft 365 subscription (which most law students have through their university).
What counts as an AI parse?
Each time you paste a citation and hit Parse, that uses one of your 200 monthly AI parses. Manual entry, re-citing, and bibliography generation are unlimited and don't count.
How do I cancel?
Click "Plan" inside the add-in at any time to open your billing portal. You can cancel, pause, or update your payment details with one click — no email required.
Is my data secure?
Yes. Citations are stored locally in your browser and never shared. Authentication is handled by Supabase and payments by Stripe — both industry-standard providers used by thousands of companies.
Do I need a Microsoft 365 subscription?
You need a version of Word that supports add-ins — Microsoft 365 works perfectly, as do Office 2016, 2019, and 2021. Most Australian universities provide Microsoft 365 free to students. You can also use the tool directly at aglc4.app/app.html in any browser without installing anything.
How do I install it in Word?
Download the manifest.xml file from the Install section above. In Word, go to Insert → Add-ins → Upload My Add-in and select the file. The panel opens on the right side of your document. You only need to do this once — it'll be there every time you open Word.
Can I use it without Word?
Yes — visit aglc4.app/app.html in any web browser. You get all the same features. The only difference is the one-click "Insert into Word" button won't work in the browser, but you can copy citations and paste them manually.
